YOGI OF THE MONTH

August 2023 - Pam Bailey

What first brought you to yoga and how long have you been practicing?

I’ve been doing casual yoga on and off for years, but I first came to InsideOut Yoga about a year ago after having been invited by a yogi friend and have been steadily practicing.

What is/are your intention(s) for your yoga practice?

I focus on breathing. I tend to hold my breath, but have found that the more I practice, the better I breathe.

What is your favorite pose and why?

I really enjoy Dead Bug and other contralateral movements. You have to be present and really concentrate on what you’re doing. It’s challenging.

What is your favorite class at InsideOut Yoga?

Slow Flow

How has the practice of yoga influenced your life?

It’s helped increase body awareness and relieve some of my chronic pain and stress.

What advice would you have for a beginning yoga student?

A quality teacher is key, and I have finally found that at InsideOut Yoga. Also, it’s ok to modify poses to suit your needs. Lastly, remember to breathe!

What is your occupation?

I’m retired and loving life!

What activities do you enjoy?

Knitting, sewing, quilting, kayaking, and walking my dog.

What is your favorite thing about living in the Northern Neck or Middle Peninsula?

I love the small-town feel and the friendly people.
