YOGI OF THE MONTH
June 2017 - Liz Seigler (pictured with her husband, Wes)
What first brought you to yoga and how long have you been practicing?
I started at the Northumberland YMCA with Jenny Landry about five years ago when they were trying to get that class started and yoga was so new to that area. I wanted to try something new and fell in love with it right away! I am so thankful that we now have so many places and wonderful teachers.
What is/are your intention(s) for your yoga practice?
I think my biggest intention is to cultivate the connection of body, mind and spirit through activity. Yoga has helped me with that, as well as my attempt to be present with whatever else I might be doing in my daily life.
What is your favorite pose and why?
Crow Pose because I feel like it was one of the hardest poses for me to do in the beginning and even now some days it’s a challenge.
What is your favorite class at InsideOut Yoga?
Power Flow
How has the practice of yoga influenced your life?
I feel like it’s brought some balance into my life physically and mentally.
What advice would you have for a beginning yoga student?
Be open minded, don’t compare yourself to anyone else in the class and don’t be afraid to try poses or classes that might be outside of your comfort level.
What is your occupation?
I am the co-owner of Barefoot Appraisals, a real estate appraisal group. I also help my husband with his business, Seigler Reels.
What activities do you enjoy?
Running, yoga(!), boating, fishing, and paddle boarding
What is your favorite thing about living in the Northern Neck?
The ability to have such quick access to the water and all the activities I enjoy
Is there anything you want to add?
Some days yoga is all physical, some days it’s just mental. The best days for me are when the combination of the two are just right!
