What first brought you to yoga and how long have you been practicing?
I have been practicing for 16 months. I was stuck in the Fort Lauderdale airport the day of the shooting last year in January. When I finally got home, I saw an article about the Yoga Healthy Aging class. Maybe it was the PTSD, but I decided to try it.
What is/are your intention(s) for your yoga practice?
I hope to improve my balance and strength and decrease stress.
What is your favorite pose and why?
My favorite pose is tree pose in the pool because I can actually do it…
What is your favorite class at InsideOut Yoga?
I love the Yoga for Healthy Aging class and have made it a priority to get to class.
How has the practice of yoga influenced your life?
IYoga has increased my awareness of the importance of taking care of yourself, something I tell caregivers all the time.
What advice would you have for a beginning yoga student?
Try it! You’ll be surprised with what you can do.
What is your occupation?
I am an RN and the owner of Geriatric Support Services.
What activities do you enjoy?
I enjoy playing Words with Friends with strangers, swimming, traveling, and watching and betting on thoroughbred horse races.
What is your favorite thing about living in the Northern Neck or Middle Peninsula?
I love living in the Northern Neck, and my kids don't want to live here, so I don't have to worry about them moving in with me.
