What first brought you to yoga and how long have you been practicing?

I started practicing yoga with Sri Dharma Mittra in NYC with my good friend, Bonnie, back in the 80’s. I started practicing with Susan from the beginning of her yoga teaching training in 2007. Due to a variety of other things in my life as well as injuries, I’m not as regular a participant as I would like to be, but I always love it when I can come to Breathe & Stretch…and the yoga retreats – especially IOY/OBX

What is/are your intentions for your practice?

To improve focus and flexibility, especially after swimming.

What is your favorite pose and why?

Supta Baddha Konasana because it feels great.

What is your favorite class at InsideOut Yoga?

Breathe & Stretch because it compliments my other workouts. I especially LOVE the myofascial release class.

How has the practice of yoga influenced your life?

It just makes me feel good to take yoga.

What advice would you have for a beginning yoga student?

It is a practice and everyone is in a different place. Know and go at your own pace.

What is your occupation?

I sell advertising for The Local Scoop Magazine, mainly in Williamsburg but also in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. I’m also a part time “beertender” at That Damn Mary Brewing Company in Hayes.

What activities do you enjoy?

Travel, entertaining, Masters Swim Team, tennis, walking in Irvington with my friends (always social), sailing, Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts, Lancaster by the Bay Chamber, socializing…anything that involves being with people. I hate to be home alone.

What is your favorite thing about living in the Northern Neck or Middle Peninsula?

It’s been a wonderful place to raise our family. We love and embrace all the water activities. And we’ve met the most amazing people here.

Is there anything you want to add?

I love that I was able to inspire my daughter, Sydney, to love yoga at a young age. She’s now an instructor in New Orleans at Wild Lotus. Thank you, Susan!
