YOGI OF THE MONTH

September 2022 - Jim Purcell

What first brought you to yoga and how long have you been practicing?

Two years

What is/are your intention(s) for your yoga practice?

To become more flexible

What is your favorite pose and why?

Child’s pose. I have arthritis in my knees and this pose hurts (in a good way) a lot. It stretches my knees and lower back. Even though I am not very good at it - it helps me stretch.

What is your favorite class at InsideOut Yoga?

Myofascial release is amazing. Susan finds pressure points that I didn’t know existed.

How has the practice of yoga influenced your life?

Yoga is a treat to the body. I always leave class feeling better about myself.

What advice would you have for a beginning yoga student?

Stick with it!  Some poses are hard and I still can’t do them all. But everyone improves with time and practice.

What is your occupation?

Bad fisherman and frustrated golfer

What activities do you enjoy?

I love exercising and outdoor activities.

What is your favorite thing about living in the Northern Neck or Middle Peninsula?

The Northern Neck is filled with unique, interesting and very special people. Our community is not for everyone and the people that live here, love it.

Is there anything you want to add?

Susan is truly a master Yogi. I enjoy her knowledge of the body, muscles and how the body works. She understands our limitations, and challenges us all “just enough” to make our bodies better.
